Karen Bradley Obit

Karen Bradley (née Tepfenhardt)

Beloved Wife, Nurse, Sister, Aunt, and Friend  1942 – 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Bradley (née Tepfenhardt), who departed this life peacefully at the age of 82. Karen was a devoted wife, a compassionate caregiver, and a cherished member of her community. Born in 1942, Karen dedicated her life to the service of others. As Head Nurse at the Montreal Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, she brought comfort, skill, and unwavering dedication to countless families during their most vulnerable moments. Her legacy continued as she played a pivotal role in establishing palliative care services for what is now the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), shaping the future of compassionate healthcare in Quebec. Karen was married to her beloved husband, Cannon John Bradley, for 47 years. Their partnership was one of faith, love, and shared purpose. A devout Anglican, Karen was deeply involved in volunteer work at St. James Church in Hudson, where John served as rector. Her warmth and generosity touched many lives within the congregations of Hudson and also Chateauguay where she and John lived when they were first married. Outside of her professional and spiritual commitments, Karen found joy in quilting—crafting treasured pieces for family and friends that will be held close for generations. She was involved in many local groups such as book clubs, the Hudson Film Society and supported numerous charity events such as the Grannies, NOVA and the local hospice. She loved to travel, explore new places, and especially cherished camping trips to Prince Edward Island, where nature and tranquility brought her peace. Those who knew her well will remember her sharp mind, her clever — and sometimes delightfully mischievous — wit. She loved friendly, competitive word games like Scrabble and crosswords, and found joy in playing Tock and Sudokuon the porch with John and anyone willing to join. Karen is survived by her loving husband John, and her sister and brother-in-law, Dagmar and Kurt Eichler. She was a loving aunt to Dieter and Kristian and a devoted Grauntie to Dominick, Lucas, Amelia, Anna and Liam, who will carry forward her memory with love and pride. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and grace. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 261 Main, Hudson at 2:00 Thursday, September 18. A reception will follow at Hudson Creative Hub next door from 3:00-5:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requestsdonations be made to Nova Hudson.
